A monitor tells GrowthPilot what to look for and where.
Before you start
- You need to be an agency owner, admin, account manager, marketer or analyst.
- Decide the main name people use for the subject, and any other names or spellings.
How to do it
- Open Reputation and select the Monitors tab.
- Select Add monitor.
- Fill in the form:
- Client / brand: the client this monitor belongs to.
- Monitor name: a name your team will recognise, for example "Brand – UK".
- Type: brand, product, person, campaign, competitor or keyword.
- Public role for the client (person monitors only): Spokesperson, Executive, Founder or Public ambassador. Monitor only people who publicly represent the client. Monitoring private individuals is not permitted.
- Primary term: the main name to search for.
- Aliases (comma separated): other names, abbreviations or spellings (up to 10).
- Excluded terms: words that signal a mention is about something else (up to 20). For example, a bakery called "Bramble" might exclude "bramble jam recipe".
- Website domain: the client's domain, which helps relevance checks.
- Language and Market: two-letter codes such as
enandGB. - Sensitivity: Low (only confident matches alert), Normal, or High (more mentions are treated as relevant).
- Scan every (hours): how often to check. If you enter less than your plan's minimum, the minimum is used.
- Enabled: untick to pause the monitor.
- Sources: the public sources to check. Hacker News and Bluesky are selected by default.
- Feed URL (RSS/Atom): required if you choose the RSS / Atom feed source.
- Select Save monitor.
You will see: "Monitor saved. The first scan collects recent history (no alerts from history)."
Add a single page manually
To analyse one public web page, such as a review or an article, select Add a URL manually on the monitor, paste the Public URL and select Add. The page must be a public web page.
Plan limits
The Monitors tab shows your agency's limits, for example "3 of 10 monitors on this plan · minimum scan interval 6 h · up to 6 sources per monitor". The number of monitors, sources per monitor and the shortest scan interval depend on your plan. If YouTube is selected, the monitor is checked at most once every 24 hours.
What happens next
The first scan runs in the background. You can leave the page. Mentions appear on the Mentions tab as they are analysed.
Troubleshooting

| That source is not available: it needs provider approval or setup | See Reputation sources. |
| A monitor with that name already exists for this client | Choose a different name. |
| Enter a valid http(s) feed URL | Check the RSS or Atom feed address. |
