Set up an authenticator app

Use an authenticator app instead of email codes, and save backup codes.

An authenticator app is optional. Once it's on, GrowthPilot asks for the app's code at sign-in instead of an email code. It works with Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password, Authy and other authenticator apps.

How to do it

  1. Open Settings → Account security.
  2. Under Add an authenticator app, enter your Current password and select Start setup.
  3. Scan the QR code with your app. If you can't scan, use Can't scan? Show setup key.
  4. Enter the code from the app and select Verify and enable.
  5. Save your 10 backup codes somewhere safe. They are shown only once. Tick I have saved these codes, then Done.

What happens next

  • At sign-in, enter the app's code. If you don't have your phone, select Use a backup code instead.
  • Generate new backup codes under Recovery replaces your old codes.
  • Remove app switches you back to email codes.
